Four musicians take temporary leave from their respective bands to form a new group, Morfem. They’ve produced Indonesia, their magnificent debut EP.

Daily life in a band is always a bumpy road; the ups and downs are constant. Jimi Multazham experienced this when he got stuck in a rut with his band, The Upstairs. Then he looked around and found a few compatriots who shared the same passions. The list filled with multi-talented musicians with a wide spectrum of musical backgrounds.

“It all started when I texted Pandu and then all of us sat together to celebrate Bram’s birthday. Then the story of Morfem began,” said Jimi, recalling the night in 2010 when Morfem was formed.

“These kids have a very strong passion for music,” he said, referring to his other three band mates.

They all have their own experiences, good and bad, living with fellow band members. Pandu Fuzztoni is a guitarist for The Porno and also The Upstairs, drummer Freddie Warnerin was previously known playing for Nervous Breakdown while Bramasta Juan Sasongko was once the bassist for JARB.

“But Morfem is a special band for me,” says Jimi. Bram adds, “I had already left JARB, so this is my band.”
